The penalties were imposed for the sale of misbranded and substandard food items, violating the Food Safety and Standards Act 2006.

This enforcement action targets multiple manufacturers, wholesale dealers, and retailers found to be contravening the provisions of the FSS Act 2006. The ADM, acting as the Adjudicating Officer, emphasized the necessity of compliance with the legal standards governing the food industry.

Ranjit Singh issued firm warnings to the erring FBOs, urging strict adherence to the Food Safety and Standards Act and its associated regulations. He warned that future violations would attract even harsher penalties.

Under the directives of the FSS Act 2006, the ADM instructed the concerned Enforcement Agency to take decisive actions against the violators. This measure aims to ensure that consumers receive safe and wholesome food through rigorous enforcement of the regulatory framework.
