On the directions of District Social Welfare Officer Varun Kumar Choudhary (JKAS), SANKALP: Hub for Empowerment of Women under Mission Shakti conducted an awareness generation programme on women-centric provisions in Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita at Panchayat Upper Kharote (Kathua). This event aimed to inform participants about various laws designed for the protection and security of women.
The programme was organized in collaboration with the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Kathua. Advocate Mukesh from DLSA delivered an interactive lecture, explaining the new criminal laws and the updated form of the Indian Penal Code. He also highlighted the importance of fundamental rights and duties for women and provided awareness on the POSH Act.
In the concluding part of the programme, the HEW team summarized the event, emphasizing awareness of different departmental schemes and expressing gratitude for the informative session. The programme was attended by Ex-Sarpanch, Ex-Panch, local women, Anganwadi workers (AWWs), and ladies from various Self-Help Groups. Challenges faced by women were also discussed, and resolutions were assured.
Refreshments were provided to the local beneficiaries at the end of the programme.
