Action Plan issued by J&K Legal Services Authority (Press Release)

​​As per the Action Plan issued by J&K Legal Services Authority and also under the radiant guidance of Sh. Ashok Kumar Shavan, Worthy Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Kathua (also Pr. District & Sessions Judge, Kathua), 2nd National Lok Adalat of the calendar year 2024 was inaugurated by Sh. Ashok Kumar Shavan, Worthy Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Kathua (also Pr. District & Sessions Judge, Kathua) today i.e. on 11.05.2024 with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp in District Court Complex Kathua and also in his address to the mammoth gathering on the occasion threw light on the purpose of holding of 2nd National Lok Adalat.

Seven Benches for settling the referred cases were constituted and Bench No. 1 was comprised of Sh. Ashok Kumar Shavan, Principal District & Sessions Judge, Kathua, and Ms. Cheena Sumbria, Munsiff JMIC, Kathua, Bench No. 2 was comprised of Ms. Kusoom Pandita, Addl. District & Sessions Judge Kathua and Ms. Puneet Kumari, Deputy Chief Legal Aid Defence Counsel Kathua, Bench No. 3 was comprised of Ms. Swati Gupta, Chief Judicial Magistrate, Kathua and Ms. Neena Thakur, District Mobile Magistrate, Kathua, Bench No. 4 was comprising of Smt. Jyoti Bhagat, Munsiff JMIC, Billawar, and Ms. Poonam Gupta, Addl. Special Mobile Magistrate, Billawar, Bench No.5 was comprised of Ms. Rimpi Rani, Munsiff JMIC, Hiranagar and Mr. Vijay Kumar Sharma, President, Bar Association Hiranagar, Bench No. 6 was comprising of Sh. Jeevan Kumar Sharma, Munsiff JMIC Basholi, and Sh. Shub Kumar Sharma, Bar President, Basohli, and Bench No. 7 were Comprised of Ms. Rajni Bhagat, Munsiff JMIC, Mahanpur, and Sh. Deep Kumar, Advocate Mahanpur.

The 2nd National Lok Adalat was held across the district wherein different kinds of matters were placed before the Benches including Hindu Marriage Act (HMA), Motor Vehicle Act, MACT Cases, Bank Recovery (both pre-litigation and post-litigation) matters, Criminal Compoundable, and also Traffic Challans. In today’s National Lok Adalat, Advocates, Litigants, people from various departments, and Senior Citizens have also participated. In the beginning, there was a special address by Worthy Chairman DLSA Kathua wherein he deliberated upon the significance of holding such Lok Adalats by giving instant justice, how it saved energy & time, and how it benefited the poor litigants.

Further in the National Lok Adalat, 6349 of Pre- Litigation cases of different natures including Bank Recovery Cases were settled 423 Post litigations of Bank Recovery Cases were settled and recovery of Rs 63,16,160/- has been effected, in MACT Cases Compensation of Rs 70,40,000/- has been Awarded and a fine of Rs 459800/- Traffic Challan and Other petty Offences were recovered from the defaulters.
All the participants were benefitted and satisfied with the event of National Lok Adalat.
