Dengue Awareness takes flight in Kathua: IEC Van kickstarts to target High-Risk Areas

Kathua, May 16 : To mark National Dengue Day, a programme was organised at the office of CMO Kathua where a united resolve has been taken to support Anti-Dengue campaign, recognizing the importance of collective action in combating this viral disease.

The event held at the office premises of CMO Kathua was on the theme “Connect with Community, Control Dengueā€¯ where an enlightening lecture was delivered by esteemed medical professionals, including Dr. Vijay Raina, Chief Medical Officer Kathua, and Dr. Uttam Chand, District Health Officer Kathua, along with Dr. Radha Krishan, District Tuberculosis Officer Kathua. Their expertise shed light on the importance of proactive measures in combating dengue.

Similar events were held at various Block Headquarters, underscoring the widespread commitment to public health across the region. The events also aimed at educating and engaging the community in preventive measures against dengue.

Following the informative session, an IEC van adorned with informative content was ceremoniously flagged off by CMO Kathua. This van will traverse high-risk areas of urban Kathua, spreading awareness among vulnerable communities. Emphasizing prevention measures and the availability of free testing and treatment facilities in Government Hospitals, the initiative aims to empower individuals to take charge of their health and well-being.

Pertinently, the National Dengue Day is observed annually on May 16 to raise awareness about dengue fever, a mosquito-borne viral infection prevalent in over 100 countries worldwide. The day serves as a platform for communities, organizations, and governments to come together and take proactive measures to prevent and control the spread of dengue.
