The two-day educational tour to Basohli, also known as Vishavsthali, took place on the 11th and 12th of October 2024. This trip was organized for the middle wing 90 students of Learning Temple High School Kathua along with 8 teachers, providing them with an enriching experience at the Basohli Utsav.
Day 1:
Exploration and Learning (Part-I): Students departed at 11am, excited for a day filled with learning and exploration.
Arrival in Basohli: Upon arrival, students were introduced to the cultural significance of Basohli, known for its rich heritage and vibrant art.
Visit to the Exhibition: The students toured the Basohli Utsav exhibition, showcasing traditional art forms, crafts, and local cuisine. This experience allowed them to engage with artisans and gain insights into Basohli’s artistic legacy.
Workshops: Participatory workshops were held, where students learned about traditional painting techniques and handcrafting skills, fostering creativity and appreciation for local crafts.
Evening Exploration of Basohli Ram Leela
As the sun set on the first day of the educational tour, students from Learning Temple High School Kathua embarked on an exciting cultural evening by exploring the illustrious Ram Leela at Basohli, renowned for its artistic performance and historical significance. 113th Series of Basohli Ram Leela: This year marked the 113th series of the Basohli Ram Leela, a vibrant portrayal of the epic Ramayana, bringing together tradition, art, and community.
Laser Show: The evening began with an engaging laser show, captivating the audience with stunning visuals and a thrilling narrative that set the stage for the performance to follow.
Students were particularly enchanted by the dramatic depiction of the Laxman Murchha and Hanuman’s Sanjivni Booti scenes. The powerful performances vividly illustrated the valor and devotion of these characters, leaving a lasting impression on the students.
The evening at Ram Leela not only allowed students to appreciate traditional Indian theatre but also facilitated discussions on the values depicted in the Ramayana, encouraging them to reflect on themes of bravery, loyalty, and sacrifice.
Day 2 started with yog session with a motive to make the students health conscious. Session was held for 30 minutes in which students done sukshsm vyayam. This session was ended with hasya aasan followed by om mantra ucharan.
Atal Setu Bridge in Basohli offers a picturesque setting that seems to enhance the joy of any visit.
It’s delightful to share that the LTians had a wonderful time there, capturing memories and celebrating with music and dance.
Such moments, set against the backdrop of this engineering marvel, are sure to be cherished and remembered fondly.
The bridge not only connects destinations but also people and their memorable experiences. After that all students went to Purthu for attending closing ceremony of Basohli Utsaw. Sh. Ramesh Kumar (IAS) Div. Com. Jammu were present as chief guest of the function. Newly elected MLA Sh. Darshan Singh was also present as one of the special guests of the Utsaw.
Along with Chairman Er. Naresh Kumar, teachers who accompanied the students were Sushma Sharma, Sangeeta Nirankari, Radha Sham, Anu Sharma, Shveta Kanwar, Neha Sharma & Janvi.
