GDC (Boys) Kathua organised Singing Competitionfor the celebration of 78th Independence Day

Government Degree College (Boys) Kathua is organizing series of activities from 1st August to 15th August tocelebrate 78th Indian Independence Day. On 5th of August, the college organised National Anthem/ Patriotic Song. The whole event was organized by NSS and NCC Units of the college under the patronage of worthy principal of the college,Prof. Seema Mir.

The program started with the inaugural speech delivered by Dr. Yash Pal Sharma, HOD Urdu. He highlighted the supreme sacrifices made by the freedom fighters. Sir also spoke about the Independence Day2024 ,Viksit Baharat theme.

In this competition, solo singing performances were presented by the students in whichninestudents participated enthusiastically. The students sang melodious desh-bhakti songs to honor our patriotic heroes in Hindi and Dogri languages and showed their love towards Mother India. The performances were adjudged by senior faculty members Dr. Yash Paul, Dr. Shrdha Anand and Prof. Shivani Sharma. The first position was secured byAnkush Majotra, second and third position was secured byPayal Devi and Vansh Singh.

The principal of the college appreciated the efforts made by NSS and NCC Units of the college for organizing series of activities for the celebration of 77th year of Indian Independence. She infused the sense of patriotism among the participants and motivated the students to participate in all activities going on in the college to celebrate this national festival.

The programme was attended by more than hundred students and faculty members of the college. The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Kanika Sharma and Shivika Rajput of 5th semester. Formalwelcome address was presented by Dr. Pinkey while vote of thanks was given by Dr. Kulbir Singh, NSS Program Officer of the college.The program was duly coordinated byNSS POsDr. Kulbir Singh, Prof. Arvind Kumar and Dr. Pinkey and NCC ANOs Dr. Raj Kumari, Prof. Ajay Sharma and Lt. (Dr.) Daya Ram. Various staff members of the college were also present in this celebration.
