The NSS Unit ‘Cheshtha’ of GLDM Government Degree College,Hiranagar Organized an awareness Programme on “Clean India Green India”. The resource person of the programme was Sh. Kewal Krishan Wadhera, a renowned Social Activist. The programme began with the welcome address by Dr. Ram Krishan, the NSS Programme Officer and Head, Department of Zoology who also gave brief introduction of the resource personwho is an epitome of dedication and selfless service.

            Dr. Pragya Khanna, Principal of the College formally welcomed Mr. Kewal and praised him for his shared insights and perspectives on various aspects of cleanliness, sanitation, and waste management. The students and staff had the opportunity to learn about innovative solutions, best practices, and community-driven initiatives that are contributing to the nationwide Clean India movement.

            Mr. Kewal highlighted the role of education, technology, and public participation in driving positive change and emphasized the need for sustained efforts to achieve lasting results. He also stressed on the importance of adopting eco-friendly practices and embracing a culture of cleanliness in both urban and rural settings.

            The lecture served as a catalyst for action, inspiring attendees to pledge their commitment to promoting cleanliness and environmental sustainability in their daily lives and communities. Participants expressed their enthusiasm for implementing practical solutions and engaging in community-driven initiatives to contribute to the Clean India mission.

            The faculty members who also graced the event were Dr. Poonam Kamotra, HOD Chemistry, Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Prof. Amit Kumar Sharma, Prof. Amit Singh, Prof. Shapia Shameem, Prof. NeeruSharmal, Prof. Namarata Choudhary, Prof. Raman Kumar, Dr. Ganga Sharma, Dr. Rajni Bala and Dr. Mukesh Kumar.

            The programme ended with Vote of thank by Prof. Rakesh Kumar, Assistant professor in Hindi.

            A plantation drive was also held on the occasion whereinMr. Kewal Krishan Wadhera planted three plants in cooperation with the staff and students.
