Theme of ‘Yoga for Self and Society’ is aimed to Foster Holistic Health and Social Harmony: DC Kathua

Kathua, June 21: The District Administration Kathua today organized a grand event to commemorate the 10th International Yoga Day, focusing on the theme “Yoga for Self and Society.” The celebration, held at Sports Stadium Kathua, drew thousands of participants, including Deputy Commissioner Dr. Rakesh Minhas, Additional Secretary Health & Medical Education Chand Kishore Sharma, ADDC Kathua Surinder Mohan, ADC Kathua Ranjit Singh, ASP Paramjit Singh, ADMO (ISM) & other esteemed officials.

The event commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by Deputy Commissioner marking the auspicious beginning of the morning’s activities. Participants, ranging from officials to community members, engaged in a series of yoga practices following the common Yoga Protocol, including Pranayama and Sukshma Asanas.

Highlighting the significance of yoga in everyday life, Deputy Commissioner emphasized that yoga should not be limited to a single day of celebration but should become an integral part of daily routines for its profound benefits to both physical and mental health. He underscored the theme “Yoga for Self and Society,” stressing its role in promoting holistic wellbeing across all age groups.

During the session, Dr. Bodhpaul, District Yoga Master Trainer, along with Yoga Instructors from AYUSH Kathua, demonstrated various Yoga Asanas such as Dhyan, Kapal Bhati, Setuvand Asanas, Taad Asana, VrikshAsana, Bhujang Asanas, Vajra Asana, Trikonasana, and Vakra Asana. They elucidated on the physical and mental benefits of each posture, underlining yoga’s versatility and accessibility.

Later, while felicitating Yoga instructors Deputy Commissioner expressed gratitude to all participants and organizers for their enthusiastic participation and reiterated the District Administration’s commitment to promoting yoga as a cornerstone of public health initiatives.

Earlier, the proceedings of the Mega Yoga Session, presided over by the Prime Minister in Srinagar, were live-streamed at the Sports Stadium Kathua. The District Administration had meticulously planned to set up big screens, where a gathering of thousands of enthusiastic people listened to the Prime Minister and reiterated their commitment to embracing Yoga for a healthy lifestyle.
